(June 18)
Part of the Walk Tacoma 2025 series, this free one-hour, one-mile stroll led in collaboration with Spaceworks Tacoma will highlight how entrepreneurs and artists are teaming up to transform downtown. The walk starts at 6 p.m. June 18 at Theater on the Square Outdoor Plaza, 917 Broadway. Get more information, see other summer walks, and register in advance at DowntownOnTheGo.com.
Follow the Sun Forest Bathing
(June 19-21)
Celebrate the summer solstice with a guided, meditative walk through Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. The two-hour walks will be led by Tina Guldhammer Frei of Cascade Forest Therapy. Each walk will conclude with a tea ceremony. Cost is $25 plus reserve admission. Register at BloedelReserve.org.
Seattle Architecture Foundation walking tours
(Various dates)
Learn more about buildings you pass every day or explore a neighborhood you rarely visit–but want to! The Seattle Architecture Foundation presents walking tours on topics including Seattle Center, the waterfront, the evolution of local architecture, and lots more. Most walks take place Fridays and Saturdays, last about two hours, and cost $25. Summer neighborhood tours include Queen Anne (June 28), Ballard (July 25), and Madrona (August 9). Get the full calendar here.
Walk with a Doc
(Various dates, statewide)
Summer is a great time to start a regular walking program. Walk with a Doc is an international program offering free short walks with medical professionals, held regularly in communities including Burien, Gig Harbor, La Push, Lynnwood, Seattle, Spokane, Stanwood, Vancouver, and Yakima. Search for locations at WalkWithaDoc.org.
Take a WAlk is compiled by Julie Fanselow, a (mostly) retired journalist and avid walker who lives in Seattle. Julie’s books include Traveling the Lewis and Clark Trail and Idaho Off the Beaten Path. Watch for more walking opportunities on Feet First’s social media channels and via email announcements.
