Communities In Motion, a King County Metro-funded program, recently launched in South Park, West Seattle, and White Center. Through June 6, the Communities In Motion team is reaching out to individuals who live or work these neighborhoods to explore their travel options and take fewer drive alone trips.
King County Metro Transit partners with local communities to encourage residents to use healthier travel options by providing opportunities to try new ways of getting around, including walking, biking, taking the bus, and sharing the ride. Participants can choose from many tools to help them get started including transit schedules, neighborhood maps, pedometers, and an ORCA card good for two weeks of unlimited travel on King County Metro!
Through various outreach events and direct mailings to selected households, Communities In Motion aims to reach 1,350 program participants. And, after 5 weeks into the program, just over 765 individuals have registered, and the number increases daily! Local businesses in South Park and White Center have jumped on board, promoting the program either directly to their employees and patrons.
