Safe Routes to School programs (SRTS) aim to make it safer and easier for students to walk and bike to school. Transportation, public health, and planning professionals, school communities, community groups, parents and students all have roles to play using education, encouragement, engineering, and engagement to foster SRTS goals.
A small group of people active in local and statewide SRTS efforts, including Feet First, have been meeting monthly to reinvigorate the Washington SRTS Network, with the goal of connecting practitioners across the state. As part of this effort, Feet First edits a monthly newsletter containing information on SRTS-related educational webinars, events, resources, and news about goings on in Washington state and elsewhere.
