Celebrate Jane’s Walk Festival with Us!

Author:

Each year, Feet First participates in Jane’s Walks, an annual worldwide celebration of community-led walking in honor of Jane Jacobs. While the coronavirus prevents us from hosting our regular group walks this year, it does not stop us from being able to share our favorite spaces in our neighborhoods.

Our communities are looking out for each other in unexpected ways – from hopeful messages in windows and murals on temporarily closed businesses, to collective resource sharing to help those most affected during this crisis. In that same spirit, we’re collecting stories and photos from people’s favorite local walks for this year’s Jane’s Walks weekend, May 2-3, and we need your help. Whether it’s a long or short route, based upon a central theme or simply your most frequent solo excursion, we’re accepting submissions of mini photo-journals that show off your neighborhood and why you love walking in it. You don’t even need to provide your own written content on your walking experience, if writing isn’t your thing. For more details and to sign up, click here.

The result will be a collection of virtual walking tours that anyone can access on our social media channels and website, starting May 2nd. While we may not be able to walk together right now, these tours remind us that we can still connect by sharing the stories of where we live and play.
